Wisconsin Jury Finds Miu Guilty of 1st Degree Manslaughter In Death if Schuman & 5 Additional Felony Charges

STATE & NATIONAL: In a Minnesota court, the man who stabbed 5 teens, fatally injuring one, Nicholas Miu, was found guilty today jurists, the majority of whom were within the defendants age range. While no sentencing date has been set, the court seemed more than certain that Miu's stabbings were a matter of his intent. The 54 year old youth assailant was found guilty of a number of charges including first degree manslaughter.

Nicolae Miu faced trial for the 2022 Apple River stabbings in Wisconsin. The jury found Miu guilty on several charges, including first degree reckless homicide, one count, first degree recklessly endangering safety; 4 counts and one count of battery.


As the trial opened and tge charges imposed were that of a crime that was intentional in nature, Miu was convicted on lesser, but still serious, reckless charges. His defense attorney, Aaron Nelson, acknowledged that Miu faces substantial, life changing penalties.


It was a quite day on the River that was turned into a tragedy for tragic 6 youth who were simply attempting g to enjoy their day. On July 30, 2022, Nicholae Miu stabbed five people on the river, resulting in the death of 17-year-old Isaac Schuman and injuries to four others.


Miu’s victims ranged in age from 17 to 24, residents of Wisconsin and Minnesota. During the trial, the prosecution sought to prove that Miu was the aggressor, while Miu’s attorneys argued he acted in self-defense.


The jury heard testimony from Schuman’s mother, other stabbing victims, witnesses, law enforcement, and Miu himself. They also reviewed cellphone video footage of the confrontation, body camera recordings of the law enforcement response, and Miu’s initial interview with authorities.


Although Miu was convicted of downgraded charges, the jury unanimously agreed that he showed utter disregard for human life. Donny Hernandez, the father of the deceased Isaac Schuman, expressed relief following the verdict.


Miu’s sentencing date has not been scheduled yet, but he could face up to 97 years in prison.
