Danger Lurks For Patients of Shutdown Al-Shifa Medical Center: Israeli Troops Besiege The Hospital

US & GLOBAL: Near Israel inside the Gaza strip, the last 24 hours may prove to be the most disastrous for those taking refuge and seeking medical care at the Al-Shifa Hospital. On late Tuesday, Israeli troops announced plans for moving further into the Gaza and, ultimately, taking control of the only hospital that had remained opened to injured and the dead. By Anne M. Erbynstein As Israeli troops moved further into the Gaza the evidence of Hamas surreptitious camps became much an open book matter. Last week, Israel found the trail of Hamas camps situated in trenches under the Al-Shifa hospital, thereafter, planning to take over the situation.

Today, comments made by one of the former doctors who escaped the violence having left the Al-Shifa and is, now, looking on from a location in Johannesburg, Africa. Dr Mads Gilbert reflected on the matter of the Israeli raid, stating it is the, "...darkest time in modern history." Gibert added, the situation is "a deep-rooted and frightening racism...You don't do these things to people you consider equal." Gilbert stated that there is no bombing and killing of people in Gaza. Today, the situation inside the Al-Shifa has grown to unfathomable proportions. Israel locates the safehouse in and around the hospital where thousands of Palestinians had once assumed a place of refuge, hidden away from the disruptive eruption of missiles blasts and falling images of civilian friends and loved ones. The after effects of Israel's recent unveiling of firepower inside the camps has left no room for anyone nearby to escape. Doctors, patients and staff members have all become targets for certain death. Israel troops raided the Al-Shifa in the middle of the night on Tuesday/Wednesday only to find the medical facility filled with injured Palestinians, families and, the most unthinkably at risk, dozens of new born babies.

Israeli troops fill the hospital corridors in search of Hamas militia. Hospital officials have commented in reference to the Israel raid stating that it is an "...unprecedented attack on civilian society." Officials with the UN are now appraising Israel's raids on civilians considering the illegality that is overwhelming in its extent of blatant, unrelenting attacks. One medical official in Israel has flatly denied any action claiming bombing in Gaza. Dr Mads Gilbert instead, blames the recent raids on Al-Shifa hospital on the west. Despite the raids that are apparently ongoing, Dr Gilbert, a Norwegian physician, continues to deny that attacks have persisted and have involved Hamas forces.
