Texas Former Lt Governor Dewhurst Released From Jail Involving A Domestic Violence Case




STATE & NATIONAL: This week, a heinous incident that transpired in in recent weeks has found the former Texas Lt Governor In a rather sticky situation. The incident that involves David Dewhurst in a a claim involving physical assault is the matter of a case filed by the alleged victim claiming family violence. Anne M. Erbynstein On a day that turned over an otherwise normal friendship and working relationship, events were report in regard to David Dewhurst and an apparent live-in girlfriend that erupted in violence. According to the report made by () county police, Dewhurst and the woman who happens , also, to be one of his closest associates, met at the Dallas Love Field airport. The report stated that Dewhurst and the woman argued over a laptop, such that Dewhurst had made demands that she surrender to him. The report adds that, upon her refusal to release the laptop to Dewhurst, he, in his attempt at taking the laptop, became physical with the woman. Other information surrounding the domestic violence situation indicates that the woman attempted to run however, when Dewhurst caught up with her, she sat on a nearby bench where he, then, began pushing her head down. People witnessing the incident stated that Dewhurst spoke with them while continuing to press down on the woman's head while she, apparently, continued refusing the release of the laptop. Dewhurst was arrested on Tuesday by Dallas Police Force Public Integrity Unit. The 75 year old former Lt. Governor was, subsequently released on bond after receiving the charge of misdemeanor assault. According to reports, the Dewhurst couple are known to Dallas police for having physical run ins with each other. Last year, the woman was arrested on charges of having broken two of his ribs after kicked the one time statesman whose career in Texas government lasted 12 years. Incidentally Dewhurst lost the 2015 Senate race to Senator Ted Cruz-- losing a Lt Governor re-election to Dan Patrick. No decision has been returned in regard to the results of charges filed against Dewhuirst and whether a trial may result in jail time.
