US Secretary Blinken Meets w/ China's President Xi In Discussions on Sustaining US-China Diplomatic Relations


US & GLOBAL: On Friday, US Secretary Antony Blinken met in Beijing with Chinese President, XI Jinping. The two global leaders gathered together with associated officials at the famous Great Hall of the People of Beijing; together to discuss diplomatic relations between the US and China.

The gathering at the Great Hall ofthe People of Beijing by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and China's President Xi marks the 45th anniversary of US-China diplomatic relations.


During their meeting, President XI commented in regard to the state of affairs between the US and China stating that the two governments should remain friendly as opposed to being rivals. Xi added that the US and China should take steps toward helping each of other succeed and not fail.


Xi seemed to plead with the US to commit to reserving differences as both take into consideration the need for honoring words with action opposing saying one thing and doing another while engaging in vicious competition. The Chinese President stated that as the world changing, the better resolution to ensuring efforts at building a community with a shared future for mankind.


Xi commented that the US and China should set an example for the entire world, to build world peace, '...undertake responsibilities for world peace, create opportunities for the development of all countries, provide the world with public goods, and play a positive role in promoting global unity.'


Xi spoke to Blinken in regard to the conversation held between he and President Joe Biden during their meeting in San Francisco about which Blinken commented that the President and Xi have made "good progress..."


According to Blinken, the progress made between the US and China encompass the results of discussion on counter-narcotics, artificial intelligence and people -to-people interactivity.


Blinken stated further that the matters at issue arrive center stage among world complexities. These events, Blinken says, create an urgency for the US and China to work together. Blinken added that there is hope for the US and China diplomatic relations to be sustained and improved.


Blinken stated that the US has hope for maintaining communication with China and supports the 'one-China' theory. While seeking more and better cooperation, Blinken stated that the current state of relations is centered on the discussions between Biden and Xi during their meeting in San Francisco.


The plan , according to Blinken is for both countries to engage in cooperation and avoid misunderstanding adding that the US and China must engage responsibly in avoiding miscalculation while managing differences and achieving stable development of US-China relations.


The overall plan that both the US and China agreed to involves both nations in stabilizing, improving and moving forward bilateral relations.
