Harris commented in regard to the work that is performed by the parents of the children visiting during TYCTW Day stating that the work their parent conduct at the White House is "about making sure that our children are happy and that they are doing well."

Harris indicated that what the parents of these visiting children accomplish adds to the standard for making sure the children "...have clean air and clean water and that they are safe."

Vice President encouraged the children in regard to the event's effects at assisting the children in meeting each other and getting to know people they may, otherwise, never meet. While the children visit the White House as their parents work, she wanted to say to them, "Thank You for letting them do what they do."

Harris stated that it meant a lot to her, when she was the age that the visiting children are, to go to work with her mother adding that "...it was kind of neat to see what they do all day."

The Vice President asked the children a number of questions including whether they asked questions and received good answer and whether they enjoyed being able to skip school to pay a visit to the White House to which the children answered, "Yes!" Vice President Harris stated, "Its a good day!"

Harris closed comments by thanking everyone who brought their children, nieces, nephews, big brothers and sisters to the White House on 'Take Your Child to Work Day.'
