Biden Announces the Proclamation of Small Business Week 2024



NATION: On Friday, President Joe Biden announced a proclamation on National Small Businesses. Biden declared small business week during the week of April 26, 2024. By Michelle Crawford-Sapenter "Across America, we are witnessing a great comeback story and small businesses are playing a key part." President Joe Biden states ion regard to the years during which small business has progressed after COVID-19. This week, as President Biden recalled the state of business upon his entry to the presidency, the US economy was submerged under the torrential tide of COVID-19. In the 3 years of the Biden -Harris administration, stood by small businesses offering owner/operators assistance to help companies hold on through the viral storm by establishing reforms to back the Paycheck Protection Program. PPP resulted in paying employees of businesses while enabling companies to ride out the devastating wave of the coronavirus. As the PPP assistance effort progressed, the government was res[ponsible for providing 450 billion dollars to small businesses. Biden stated, it was through the American Rescue plan that he signed "...which provided additional support to 100,000 restaurants and 225,000 child care centers relied on by hundreds of thousands of parents. American small business have boomed with a record 17 million new small businesses being started by the year 2023. Biden indicated that between 2019 and 2022, American black and Latino owned businesses have grown and continue to be established. Biden declared, since the Biden-Harris administration took office, 15 million new jobs have been created in the US. Biden commented, "Growth is strong, wages are rising and inflation is down." President Biden commented in regard to his appreciation of small businesses stating that they have been his concern from the first day he entered into the presidency. Biden stated that small businesses have been at the heart of his plan for restoring the US economy. "We are making sure every home and business in America has access to affordable, high speed internet by the end of the decade," adding that "...entrepreneurs everywhere can access more customers and have a fair shot." --President Joe Biden Building the economy from the bottom up, the inside out, Biden stated that the Infrastructure law provides the greatest form of US investments in American history. By rebuilding roads, bridges, ports, public transit and more, Biden stated that the US relies on the nation's Main Street entrepreneurs to help rebuild the nation's economy. The President's goal for rebuilding the US economy would reach as much as $37 billion in investments in small businesses. The President stated that small businesses benefit from the investments and, thereafter, create good paying jobs. Biden, also, promoted the CHIPS and Science Act, through which investments in businesses has resulted in increasing US semiconductors production, ensuring more and more products that are Made In America, relieving the US from extreme dependence on international trade. Today, more than $680 billion dollars has been received through foreign investments in US production while bringing jobs back to America. Biden has, also. sponsored SBA small business low dollar access loans to be provided to small business that are in search of capital that will add much needed financial dimension. Today, $10billion dollars has been invested in Street Level community small businesses investment companies which are meant to catalyze small businesses while expanding access to capital. With $70million dollars situated solely for investments in women centered businesses networks, the plan is galvanized for supporting women owned businesses. Biden stated , small business may only employ a few people instead of thousands, but together they make up 40% of the US economy and 99.9% of all American business.
