The Biden Administration Establishes Medically-Purposed Research of Cannibas Sativa



Washington: Today, the Biden administration announces plans for reclassifying the popular herbal drug, marijuana. The plans arrive following the revamping of the 1975 law, Controlled Substances Act which currently classifies cannabis sativa as a controlled substance. By Michelle Crawford-Sapenter On Tuesday, according to the reclassification plan, the administration's aim at conducting further research to discover the greater health benefits associated with marijuana. Following a plan to arrive at developing the marijuana plant a more viable health remedy, the US government has determined the need to extend its research of cannabis. In regard to the research, the US Department of Health and Human Services will take steps at rescheduling the classification of marijuana which is currently classified as Schedule I and Schedule III status. While the reclassification will face being approved by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the research will look further into the medical benefits of cannabis. Today, the US Department of Justice, Attorney General, Merrick Garland is expected to release a rescheduling outlook to the White House Office of Management and Budget. In the United States, a total of 41 states, along with the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, have medical marijuana programs. Out of these, 23 states have either decriminalized cannabis or have full adult-use programs. The reclassification of marijuana will quite likely increase the legalization of the drug in states across the nation. Businesses that sell marijuana, today, have amassed profits in an industry that has reached $34billion in recreational use sales. Given the reclassification and affecting the Marijuana's current scheduling, the plan will provide an avenue for pharmaceutical producers to, also, engage in the marketing of cannabis for medical use purposes. Following the submission of the rescheduling plan by DOJ of the, the US federal government will release information stating any adjustments that will be made that might have any direct impact on the US Public.
