In the last 3.5 years, the Biden-Harris administration have taken steps to harness gun violence.  Through the outlawing of such weapons as bump- stock- capable firearms and the attack on assault weapons, the administration has demonstrated extensive efforts at curtailing the otherwise longstanding impact of violence that gun sales and productions has had on the US public.

Today, as Americans reflect on recent years of activities involving gun violence, --the Sandy Hook situation, Buffalo New York matter, the Uvalde , Texas murders and many other events during which Americans have been fallen at the hand of a heinous killer—the likes of which should never had their hands on a fire arm.

For decades, gun violence has been and, today, remains a serious problem in US society.  Most recently, as the question of safety looms in view of the 2nd Amendment rights and states that have reestablished open carry and concealed carry legislation.  Given the state level advancement of these laws, Vice President Harris has stated her concern over the questions surrounding whether American can live free from harm that may transpire as a result of gun violence.

Today, Harris states that a total of 3.5 per 100,000 American killed as a result of gun violence have been minor children.  Harris states that 83% of all US gun violence deaths have been boys.  According to the Biden-Harris administration, 2,950 deaths among children under age 18 were the cause of gun violencethat number increased from 1,732   in 2019 by 1218 by the year 2021.   In support of the rights of Americans to the freedom to exercise the 2nd amendment, Vice President Harris has stated her pride for the fact that, during the Biden-Harris administration, gun safety legislation has improved the circumstances surrounding the use and storage of firearms in the home and elsewhere.

Despite efforts being made by the administration to strongly curtail the purchase and sales of firearms, Vice President Harris cites gun show loopholes" that allow gun dealers and avenue for escaping performing background checks during the sale process.  Harris stated that the administration will approach Congress for ensuring that laws will be passed that will ban assault weapons.

The administration has made progress with efforts at providing mental health counseling for students in schools that have encountered gun violence.  The administration has, also,  taken steps to secure gun controls through Executive Orders.

As a means of developing an internal government gun violence prevention effort, the Biden-Harris administration established the first ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention, also,  working on a plan to further address and end gun violence through the Safer Communities Act.
