Austin In Singapore Spoke of a "New Convergence" inthe Indo-Pacific

US & GLOBAL: This weekend, as scheduled, US Pentagon Secretary Lloyd Austin met with global leaders at the IISS Shangri -La Dialogue Summit in Singapore. Defense Secretary Austin spoke before an attentive gathering of 120 leaders gathered to discuss the next steps necessary to be taken in the Asian Pacific and other areas associated with defense and security for each nation.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin On Saturday, Secretary Lloyd Austin III stated the position of the United States in reference to the matters at issue involving Indo-Pacific. Austin stated that there has been an arrival of a "new convergence ..." in the region involving "...nearly all aspects of security." In his comments Austin stated that the new convergence involved the "...coming together," of partners as opposed to "...spliiting apart..." of nations joined together for the cause about which each have gathered during the ISS Summit. "We are more secure and more prosperous together."-US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin III Austin spoke of the vitality of the United States in the Indo-Pacific and the reciprocal vitality of the Indo-Pacific in areas that are of great4st concern to the nations gathered in Singapore in a shared effort that will provide strategic defensive data to each of the IISS partners.

Austin commented in regard to the significance ofthe IISS partnerships stating that they are such that allow ever nation a moment to share in the proposed events that are or may be slated for being conducted as the year progresses. Austin stated, the gathering of leaders will provide for each nation's leader to lead with their own proposals, not being coerced or forced to follow the other's lead. Secretary impressed upon the leaders the significance of acknowledging the freedom of choice among sovereign nations. The US Defense Secretary commented in regard to the good will among those gathered together to demonstrate concern for the matters about which their interest is shared. Austin stated, "Despite these historic clashes in Europe and the Middle East, the Indo-Pacific has remained our priority theater of operations. " US Secretary of Defense General Austin left the 120 IISS gathering of leaders with the theme of his speech stating, "...the United States can be secure only if Asia is."

As he closed his speech, Austin stated that a dialogue with China is significant as the IISS moves forward to the next phase in Asia-Pacific and global defense.
