Zelensky Returns To US Requesting War Funding: Biden Pledged $61.4 B

Updated: Dec 12, 2023

US & GLOBAL: The return to Washington by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky who visited the White House on Tuesday would be a point made , today, that echoes the tone set as the war on Ukraine that was launched following an invasion by Russia p[rogressed.  Now, after 19 months of violence, Zelesnky finds that war cost,  paired with the hope of defending Ukraine's right to sovereignty,  is more than bearable.  Today, while his travels brought the Ukraine President to the white House to meet with US leaders, Zelensky, again, states his request for outflows of US military aid.

"He is delighting in the fact that Donald Trump's border policies are sabotaging military aid to Ukraine." Schumer commented in regard to the potential that delays in issuing military support has the proclivity to improve conditions for Russia.

On Tuesday in Washington, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell met with Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky.  Schumer and McConnel escorted the war embroiled leader to the US Capitol. While there, Zelensky will, again, speak before members of the full Senate stating his petition for more war funding."What the Biden administration..." is "...asking for is billions of dollars ... with no clear strategy to win..."-- House Speaker, Mike JohnsonIn the month of November, President Joe Biden entered a plea to the US Congress on behalf of Zelensky --a plea that had, also, been made in a statement delivered months ago to Congress during which Biden responded to Zelensky's comment indicating that a loss for Ukraine is a loss for all sovereign nations the world.  In the last week, Biden entered a plea requesting an additional 61,4 billion dollars in war appropriations .  Biden , however, indicated that the war funding would be used to purchase US equipment and weapons that would, thereafter, be forwarded to Ukraine.

" I know everyone wants Ukraine to win, I...dont see it in the cards."  GOP Senator, Ron johnson comments

Today, Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson commented in regard to his impression of the request made by resident Biden stating that he would defer to reliance upon "answers...' that the House Speaker prefers,  adding that the American people are owed answers.  Johnson called for details from the Biden administration.Speaking as a concerned intercessor, Senate Majority L:eader, Chuck Schumer stated that what Congress is achieving with the development of a "gridlock..." set against the request made by President Biden, is Russian President, Vladimir Putin. Schumer.  Johnson, however, made comments that seemed to express his concern for probity in handling the prospect of providing aid to Zelensky.  "I implore them to their jon...we do want to do the right thing."

Set to meet with President Biden , today, at the white House, Zelensky is among an elite group of foreign leaders who are privileged to be invited to the White House.   In the past, White House invitation have been declined while attempts have been made by foreign leaders to press the administration with expectations of receiving largess offerings by military-leading  countries.  Biden, however, epxressed his staunch support to Ukraine stating as the war erupted that the Whiote House would be situated to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes.    Desite the hope to relentlessly lend military support to Ukraine, it was earlier in the month of December that the US announced that all war funding had been depleted.

Ukraine continues in its pursuit to win its sovereign right to independence from Russia--a battle , one mght consider as being one unchallenged by the Russian government.  While, in years past and during the period that Russia remained connected with the Soviet Union, its government stood as a glonbal super power challenged only by the powers that stood forth by the United States.  Today, in the post-USSR era, Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, appears to issue its own measure of autonomy, however, following an hegemony that touts communism, but with seemingly more firce oposition to former USSR nations within its own region.

On both sides, Ukraine and russia are , now realizing the cost of war.  Russia has suffered the loss of more than 300,000 troops.  The cost to Ukraine has been reflected in the military aid issued by the United States --a price that has been paid by the US at the rate of more than $100 billion dollars.

Johnson's comments urging a conclusion to the gridlpck imposed by the House Speaker is at risk of seeing the House end the current session with only 3 days left before the annual recess.
