US & GLOBAL: Today, the US Pentagon announces changes in the face of military capacity as the Army indicates that several military personnel positions will be relieved of duty while preparations are made involving the prospect for future wars. By Anne M. Erbynstein This year, in an effort to downsize the volume of military personnel, the US army has determined the need to slash 24,000 members totaling 5% of U.S. Army forces. Secretary of the U.S. Army, Christine Wormuth states that the downsizing efforts are being made to better facilitate readiness at such time that the next call to war transpires. Today, the US army states that problems have risen pout of the need to recruit sufficient numbers of personnel creating shortfalls that made it impossible to fill all the jobs. While the problems present difficulty for Army administrators, Wormuth explains that the positions that are slated for being cut are un-filled posts as opposed to actual personnel. US Army administration officials stated that positions that are targeted are those created during the Afghanistan -Iraq war , such that aimed at performing duties involving counterinsurgency adding that the more than 3000 positions including other special operations are no longer required. In an active duty marshal that counters the relinquishing of positions, the US Army will recruit 7500 troops in areas of most crucial operations. The Army indicates that the need has increased for filling positions by personnel who ill perform the duties that include air defense, counter drone units, adding five new enhanced cyber task force that will gather intelligence and perform long range tasks. Last year the Army Navy and Air force reported the falling off of recruitment goals. While the Army aimed at recruiting 65,000 the total actual new recruits failed to reach another 23% of the goal. Today, as the framework of war has changed from from counterinsurgency to the need for more intense power to ensure the ability to resist forces that may be imposed by China, Russia, N. Korea, the Us military , now, has responded to the need for intensifying its focus on air defense, systems and high tech equipment to facilitate airborne and sea based operations.
