Biden Met w/ Irish Prime Minister Varadkar at The White House

POLITICS: The White House was host to one of the United States's closest and longest allies , the Prime Minister of Ireland, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. US President Joe Biden welcomed the Taoiseachvtobthe US to reignite relations that have existed between the U.S. and Irelzndvfor decades. .

"100 years of diplomatic relations between Ireland and America.  And as far as that friendship goes, it keeps increasing and not diminishing, and I would argue it’s stronger than ever."-- US President Joe Biden


On Friday, President Biden commented in regard to the work accomplished as a result of efforts being made by both Ireland and the US. In last year President Biden and Ireland have continued to provide military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and Israel, despite the war complications that have plague matters in both instances. The leaders agreed that more work is being undertaken to provide more humanitarian aid to Gaza


" We have $60 billion package.  And we’re really working — so, when we’re up in the Hill, I’d ask you to lobby them for me."-- President Joe Biden


During the last years of the Biden administration, the U.S. and Ireland , along with the help of the Taoiseach, have produced 300,000 jobs in both settings .


"[W]e really need your continued support and leadership on Ukraine and look forward to speaking to the congressional leaders about that as well later on. 


Commenting in regard to the $300million dollars in funds raised to provide to Ukraine, Biden and Varadkar agreed that more funds will be raised to aid Ukraine adding that the Taoiseach might engage in lobbying for more funds to which Varadkar agreed.


Varadkar stated that , in the next week, 27EU Prime Ministers will convene during the European Counvil conference. According to Varadkar, the Prime Ministers will be excited to learn about what was discussed during the White Hoyse meeting.


In regard to the discussions slated for the RC meeting, the Taoiseach stated that the partners will engage in talks involving Putin, Varadkar commenting that his impression is that " We don't think that if Putin is successful in Ukraine he'll stop there."


The Irish Prime Minister asked for the US President's full support in the gorthgoing events . President Joe Biden replied, "...We'll, you can tell them that the President of the United States is strongly committed to making sure we provide that aid."
