POLITICS: One Monday, the Biden -Harris administration announced the extensuion of funding made to the northeast corridor (NEC). Amtrak received funding totallying 10 billion dollars in Federal Railroad Administration aid. Funds received by Amtrak will provide for criticakl infrastructure modernization. Today, Amtrak officials thanked President Joe Biden and vice President Kamala Harris for the extensive work that has improvesd the conditions with the nation's leading commercial railway company. According to the comments made by officials at Amtrak, grants will be used to advance unlock congested rail passageways and improve ridership. Working to move the project forward, Pete Buttigeiefgg, Secretary iof Tansportation, prepared for securing the budget that has provided fpor the extensivwe improvements that are to proceed in the next pjhase of US infrastructure response. 12 Amtrak stations will be affected by the 108 billion dollar grants and include: Frdrick Douglas Tunnel, nearly 5.0b, Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project (up to $2.08B), East River Tunnel Rehabilitation Project (up to $1.26B), Connecticut River Bridge Replacement Project (up to $826.64M), Dock Bridge Rehabilitation Project (up to $300.18M), Sawtooth Bridges Replacement Project (up to $133.32M), Baltimore Penn Station Redevelopment (up to $108.32M), Pelham Bay Bridge Replacement Project (up to $58.27M), Gunpowder River Bridge Replacement Program (up to $30M), NEC South End Infrastructure Renewal and Speed Improvement Planning Study (up to $21.6M), Bush River Bridge Replacement Program (up to $18.8M), New Haven to Providence Capacity Planning Study (up to $4M) Amtrak infrastructure improvement projects were not liomioted to the first 12 assigned. The Transportation Department , along with the Biden administration and FRA Amit Bose; Fed-State Partnership increased the number of stations receiving nearly 6billion in improvements to total 25 stations repaired and improved, adding 13 stations located in the northeast corridort, NEC. The investmentsa made by President Biden are considered massive , according to the FRA administrator amit Bose. Biden's administration's investments have, already, begun creating josb that are paying workers at much higher rates that before. The Transportation Department indiecated that, as a reult of the Biden administrauion's investment, 800,000 faily riders wil be the benefactor of fewer delays and faster and more convenient servce.
