US Tomahawk Submarines Arrive In Suez Canal




NATION: Today, following warnings made tio Iran in regard to the attacks made by Iranian military against US military in Israel and the Gaza region, the US Department of Defense has confiormed the arrival of US non-nuclear subs in the Suez Canal. The Midldle East is facing off with efforts being made, in clear view, to quell any conflict in the region. By Michelle Crawford-Sapenter The US remains present in the Suez Canala to "bolster regional deterrence efforts, increase force protection for US forces in the region, and assist in the defense of Israel.”--US Secretary General of Defense, Lloyd Austin III According to the US Central command, the US Ohio-class submarines were located off the northeast coast of Cairo inside the Suez Canal. The submarine is identified by the US Navy as being a guided missile submarine that are Tomahawk capable cruise missiles and, however, have nor been escalated to nuclear ballistic missile level.

The Navy indicates that the Ohio-class SSGN subs are armed with as many as 154 Tomahawk missiles and increase of 50% ofthe former submarines baring guided missiles. Generally, according to US Central Command, Tomahawks are equipped with 1000 pound high explosive missiles which can prerform rapid-fire Tomahawk missiles used during battles against Libya, 2011.

The US stated previously that it will meet with full force any state of non-state planning to escalate aconflict. The US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin indicated that the military will remain present in the canal to ensure the defense within the region.
