City of Hawley, Texas Devastated By vicious Tornado

STATE & NATIONAL: On Saturday, a report from the city of Hawley, Texas provided information of how the city was rocked by a tornado that struck at 6:40 pm, Thursday. On Thursday, multiple tornadoes were confirmed in the region of Texas near abiline referred to as the "Big Country." By Anne M. Erbynstein On Thursday, one tornado was seen while a number of more were, also, spotted in Jones County. The tornado was reported by storm chaser Aaron Rigsby who stated that he could not fathom what happened in Hawley, Texas on Thursday. First reports made in association with the tornado reported that a number of houses had been devastated. Two injuries reported following the storm's sweep through Hawley as the tornado traveled toward Taylor County. Central Texas experienced large hail and fallen trees caused by heavy winds. One family was reported to have encountered the worst impact after a tree fell on their house, Each of the four members escaped with some slight injury to one of the children. Today, the Weather Prediction Center provides information in regard to the build up of intense heat that is expected to follow the storm system. By Saturday, temperatures are expected to increase reaching the high 90s in south and southwest Texas. In the remainder of the nation, the NPC reports that the Midwest will experience moderate risk due to thunderstorms. Residents in the area of the Middle Mississippi Valley/Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday with warnings of Enhanced Risks.

The NPC suggests that residents in these area remain on alert over the Memorial Day weekend and into the first of the week on Memorial Day.
