ENSNewsii & The Weekender Presents A Special Black History Month Presentation: 'The Enlightening Dr Francis Cress Welsing'

In the 1950s, arriving in adulthood for most black Americans were still evolving from an era that quaked with reminders of the previous decades in the last century-- slavery , in the 50s, was only a stones throw away. What blacks encountered in American society that plagued the climate inside ofthe black community and black emergence was the idea that there had been a moment in time, in America that, for reasons that remain unknown, white looked upon themselves as being superior to blacks. By Michelle Crawford-Sapenter

Then, often referred to as colored and, by some. elevated to the status of being called 'negro,' sought after an equal path in life while, however, inequality remained an undercurrent that splashed its icy waters in the face of black pursuits, progress and living. Through this corridor of her acclimation to life in America, it was a young Francis Cress who found that the prospect for addressing the very blatant and cold matters that were splattered in the face of black life and spewed racism were inexorable. (Theft of portions of this expository has occurred at the hand of a black male neighbor at my apartment complex. Nonetheless these writings shall proceed). For Dr Francis Welsing. the evolution through an era of a most profound presence ofthe KKK; the klan that. in its time, frequented black communities, schools, churches, businesses, individually and in mass made their presence known in a manner that invariably erupted in the endangerment of blacks; bodies hanging from with southern poplar trees, lynchings of boys and men and the, altogether, inescapable thought of tar and feathering that quaked in thoughts pondered by those who, by the 50s, would survive to impart bits of the crude and cruel history that they encountered in their own experiences with white supremacy. As opposed to wallowing in the pain that lingered, suppurate in the mind of one who, because of her knowledge of self, turned the darkness of the era into enlightenment, Francis acted upon an opportunity to address the matter of racism through education and, thereafter, putting her intellect to use as a retaliatory weapon that would work to dispel the false narrative that black was inferior to white. Becoming Dr. Welsing, would require Francis Cress to embark upon higher academic studies. Her first venture, leading to the ISIS Papers ( also referred to as the Osiris Papers) was launched at Antioch College. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Yellow Springs , Ohio , 1961. Prior to earning an Master Degree through studies at Howard University, Cress met and married Ghanaian, Johannes Kramer Welsing, Welsing received a MD. 1962, while engaging in studies at Howard University from which she spent years performing work in hospitals inthe field of psychiatry. Published in 1962, the ISIS Papers: The Keys To Color is a compilation of essays written by Dr Welsing between 1962 and 1980 --the title taken from the life of ISIS who became the sister/wife of a demi-god, Osiris meaning 'lord of the perfect black.' and the book existing as a commentary on truth and justice. While Dr Welsing's book, 'ISIS,' speaks to a specific social standard carried forth during the eras preceding her emergence, the essays travel back to the perilous moments in time, such that she unveiled as an episode of imposed 'genocide of people of color.' Dr Welsing offered clarity in her description of genocide of people color as a plot against blacks as a means of overcoming the inability to produce melanin. Welsing added emphasis to her concept of the white v the black natural production of melanin, such that , today, remains pervasive within the non-caucasion DNA, and states further that , the evolutionary event that has propelled life on earth and situates whites at a disadvantage to blacks is the result of the evidence that people of color are dominant in their presence on earth compared to whites. Dr Welsing's basic theory has never been dispelled and remains a pronouncement of truth and fact that has, however, been perused since the dawn of humanity, although, the furvor surrounding any [possible proof that melanin precludes the possibility that white can be dominant over peopole of color has, yet to be found.
