Manhunt For Lewiston Shooter of 31 Residents Card, Remains Active. 22 People Are Dead 11 Injured




STATE & NATIONAL: Today, the manhunt for mass shooter Robert Card continues as law enforcement in Lewiston, Maine searches for the shooter in a dual attack conducted on Wednesday night. Lewiston , Maine police are assisted by ATF and FBI agents in the massive reional manhunt for 40 year old Card. By Anne M. Erbynstein "As I told Maine Governor Janet Mills, Senators Collins and King, and Congressman Golden last night, I have directed my administration to provide everything that is needed to support the people of Maine. We will continue to be there every step of the way." --US President Joe Biden On Wednesday, after being called to the scenes of two mass shootings, police in Lewiston Maine uncovered the identity of shooter, Robert Card. Card is a former Army weapons trainer who, according to reports, suffers with mental disorder. The report made on Thuirsday indicate that Card entered into a bowling alley in Lewsiton--one that is the frequent night spot for younger residents. The report states that Card opened fire killing 8 people and injuring several others. Further in the information provided by Lewiston police department, the assailant traveled four miles away from the bowling alley and made a stop atthe 2nd scene where severl more people were shot. The report indicates that Card fired shots that killed 22 Lewiston residents, injuring an additional 11 people. While Maine Governor, Janet Mills, indicated on Thursday, that information identifying the shooter had been located, the massive search remains law enforcement's only means of tracking down the shooter. As police continue the hunt for the mass killer in the Lewiston massacre, information contiunues to file in from hospitals and others who sustained injury. Reports made by Card's former Commanding Officers provide information of the former Army enlisted man's frequent stays in military hospitals receiving mental evaluation. During one incident while Card remained at Camp Smith training facility in New York, he commented in regard to erratic activity resulted in his being remanded to the unit's hospital. There had , also, benn comments made by others who inmdiocated that Card's behavior was often questionalbe and quite unusual. Law enforcement was called in to control matters during Card's stay at Keller Army Community Hospital at the United States Military Academy for metal evaluation. Card was, also, cited for having threatened to open fire upon an airbase in Maine. interviewed by aiuthorities, Katie O’Neill, Card's relative stated that the reports of her brother in laws recent actions are opposite of her impression of him. O'Neill's comments indicated that Card may have been experiencing a mental breakdown.
