US & GLOBAL: From the Vatican, the rather surprising news of Pope Francis' homophobic comment had more than sent shock waves throughout the Catholic church community and the nation. The comment uttered by the Pope stating his disfavor for "faggotry" may have () among those within the Catholic Church. Today, Pope Francis has issued an apology. By Anne M. Erbynstein Overwhelmed with criticism, Pope Francis has come to terms with a comment made in regard to his anti-gay stance as a Pope and a servant of God as the Holy See. The criticism involves the Pope in a bit of controversy surrounding an anti-gay comment made during a meeting with members of the clergy. "The Pope never intended to offend or express himself in homophobic terms, and he extends his apologies." The Vatican According to one report made by a European media outfit, the Pope spoke during the meeting with Bishops stating his position in regard to gay men. The news source indicated that Pope Francis proposed that gay men not be permitted to train for the clergy. Sources stated that Pope Francis' anti-gay comment was perceived as being quite offensive and, thereafter, became the brunt of mass criticism, some emanating from within the church and among others outside the church Diocese Following that which might be regarded by the pristine, Petrine See as tumultuous commentary emanating from the gay community, it had been at the time that the Pope participated in a forum held by Italian Bishops during a policy amendment session that the proposal was made. The Pope stating, "there is too much frociaginne in seminaries..."; 'frociaginne' being the Italian terminology used as a criticism of gay men.
