NATION: This week, Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer has stated his decision to add $1.5million to plans for building a theatre overlooking the Hudson. According to the most recent report, construction ofthe new amphitheater begins as soon as the fall 2024 and is expected to be completed by spring, 2026.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has secured funding for the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's new amphitheater


This funding is part of the Senate Agriculture-FDA appropriations bill. Construction of the open-air amphitheater, which will overlook the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain, is set to begin in the


The project aims to create a permanent home for the festival, enhancing the local economy by attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually


Schumer is a staunch supporter of the Hudson Valley Shakespearean construction project and his efforts to secure the 1.5 million are a much valued bonus to the construction effort.


The prospect that the theater will ultimately overlook the Hudson River will bring thousands of visitors to the site is a measure of hope that the HVS amphitheater will become an annual theatre favorite adding to the celebration of the arts in the region.
