STATE & NATIONAL: Pride Day Parade is a celebration of pride among the people of the LGBTQ community. Today in Houston the celebration is going on now as thousands line the streets from Bagby St. near the City Hall building , finishing up at Walker St.

Many people are expected to attend the Pride Day celebration that was first initiated as an annual day of celebration by the US government in 1999.

The Houston Pride Month Parade is expected to be a vibrant celebration with 20thousands people attending throughout the month of June. Specifically, the 46th annual Pride Houston Parade, happening today, is anticipated to draw thousands.

As for the official recognition of Pride Day by the US government, President Bill Clinton officially declared June as
Pride Month was made an official celebration in 1999, setting aside the month to recognize the achievements and support the LGBTQ community
The Pride Month celebration is a designation that has since been expanded to include bisexual and transgender Americans, and June continues to be celebrated as Pride Month across the United States.
