Union Workers Boycott German Grocers Creating Shortages & Concerns For Holiday Shopping



US & GLOBAL: This weekend in Germany, companies that operate food stores are reporting shortages in food supplies. Officials there have indicated that the problem with foods flowing into major grocery stores is a Union boycott creating an interruption with supplies being transported to local grocers.

Grocers and discount stores in Germany are experiencing what is being termed a "catastrophic..." event that is affecting stores across Germany's economy.


The shortages have stretched across a number of food chains as union workers boycott efforts at transporting food supplies in lieu of their demand for a 13% hike in pay.


The shortage has struck agsinst 6 companies operating discount retail outlets. Including Penny's and Ksuflsnd discounters, the stores repirt that 1.4 of their shelves are empty.


In cities across the nation, companies are expressing their concern that tge boycotts May run up against the holidays creating even worse consequences for holiday shoppers and retailers. According to reports,


Union leaders will meet to negotiate tge details associated with worker pay raise demands , however, the meetings will not convene until the 1st week in December.
