Vice President Harris Meets w/ Mayors on Gun Safety Onthe Anniversary of Uvalde Mass Shooting


NATION: Today, comments delivered by Vice President Kamala Harris were those of condolences made to the family and those present during the shooting by 17year old Dylan Butler that caused the death of Perry High School principal, Dan Marburger. Butler, also, fatally injured an 11 year old 6 the grader. Comments made by the Vice President arrive on the date of the day following the anniversary ofthe Uvalde's Robb Elementary school shooting that resulted in the deaths of 19 students and school staff.

The anniversary ofthe Robb Elementary School shooting brought about the reaction of the White House among those including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris who have sought after ending gun violence by requesting Congress to pass laws that will ban assault weapons and establish other more stringent laws to protect Americans.


In her comments made during her reflection of tge 2023 mass shooting at Robb Elementary , Uvalde, Texas, Harris commented stating that the Biden-Harris administration passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act following the heinous violent massacre thst transpired at the hand of () yo gunmsn and former Robb Elementary School student.


The Vice President indicated that the BSCA is one of the most effective laws established in 30 years. According to the U.S. Departmrnt of Justice, gun violence remains the number 1 cause of deaths among minor children.


During the Biden-Harris administration the White House, also, established the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention-- the first ever office established and operated on the federal level.


Harris met on Thursday with the Mayors of Washington DC and others during the United States Conference of Mayors. Vice President Harris spoke with US Mayors and civic leaders in regard to gun safety and prevention.


In recent years in the fight to end gun violence, Harris commented in regard to DC's activities that have placed the city at the front line in the fight to end gun violence.


The conference hrld on January 18 reflected on the plan for conservation of continued partnership with local leaders and the Biden- Harris administration to work to ensure safer communities and save lives.
