NATION; In the course of enduring the safety of US students, the Biden Harris administration established the first ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention; a division ofthe White House that is , currently, governed overseen by Vice President Kamala Harris.

This year, Vice President Kamala Harris has taken steps to move forward with gun safety . Particularly for students in US schools, Harris has developed the Safe Storage Model Legislation that is expected to endure a greater level of security for US student on all levels,
Recently developed, the U.S. Department of Justice's "model legislation details how states can require the safe storage of firearms, including in vehicles, and hold individuals liable for harm caused by unsecured firearms.Dec 13, 2023"
Harris established tge plan along with the assisting the US Department of Justice. The administrators determined that states can harness the responsibility for ensuring better gun safety. A number of initiatives were developed by Harris in her post with other working to produce sufficient solutions. Including establishing the Biden administration's OGVP overseen by Vice President and other within the Office of Gun Violence Prevention the following plans were listed:
1). Investing in evidence-informed solutions to prevent and respond to gun violence, including community violence interventions, Crime Gun Intelligence Centers, and implementation of Extreme Risk Protection Orders;
2). Strengthening support for survivors and victims of gun violence;
3). Reinforcing responsible gun ownership, including by requiring safe storage of firearms and reporting of lost and stolen firearms;
4). Strengthening gun background checks, including by enacting universal background checks legislation and removing barriers to completing enhanced background checks; and
5). Holding the gun industry accountable, including by banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and enacting firearm-specific liability laws to ensure that victims of gun violence have their day in court.
States will advance the USDOJ plan by adopting and two practical polivies ; those bring
1):Safe Storage Model Legislation. Safe storage saves lives. It is one tool in the toolkit to reduce school shootings, because we know that most often those students who carry out K-12 school shootings are using firearms they obtain from the home of a friend or family member. It is also a critical strategy to reduce suicide by firearms, accidental shootings, and the theft of firearms
2). Lost and Stolen Firearms Reporting Model Legislation. Reporting of lost and stolen firearms allows law enforcement to investigate and prosecute firearms trafficking. The Department of Justice’s model legislation provides states with a framework for requiring that a person promptly report the loss or theft to law enforcement.
Vice President Harris stated that the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention will continue to address the matter of enduring safety for students and other through the Safe Models Lehidlation agenda while. also, continuing to interface with states to ensure that every essential resource and other support is provided to ensure progress is being made as planned.
