NATION: In a decision agreed to by President Joe Biden and US Secretary of State , Antony Blinken , the United States will sell F-16 bombers to Turkey. The agreement gelled shortly following the approval of Sweden's accession to NATO.

On Friday, the US State Department slidduedvfoviments to Congress stating tge proposed plan for providing $23billon in F-16 fighter jets . Blinken stated Greece will receive $8.6billion in F-35 jets shoukd Congress approve.
Turkey issued the United States a document stating the plan for the purchase of $23billion in F-16 bombers. The United States indicated to Congress that the agreement between the US and Turkey is a legally documented, formal agreement.
The deal that was struck between Blinken and Erdogen and presented to President Biden was negotiated in 2023 during the U.S. Secretary's visit to Turkey.
While the negotiations led to Finland's approval in March 2023, the U.S. would be inclined to engage measures leading to the approval of Sweden and, ultimately, forming amicable relations between the U.S., Turkey, Finland and Sweden. Erdogen reiterated his hope for the receipt of US F-16s , the sale of which Blinken and Biden agreed.
Following the Swedish and Turkey agreement regarding NATO approval, the US , now, looks to the final resolution to be handled by Congress which is expected to agree to the sale ofthe fighter jets requested by Turner snd Greece.
