STATE & NATIONAL: Texas' largest cities have participated in the nationally established Gusranteed Invome program to assist families with covering the bills and reversing food insecurity. Today, the city of Houston officials announced the near deadline for applicants to get in on the gift.

On Tuesday, the Houston City Council urged residents to file applications for the Guaranteed Income benefit. The most recently released information surrounding the GI benefit indicates that residents may be eligible to receive $500 dollars per month for 18 months. The benefit may be put to use for rent, utilities, food and other essential needs.
The city has indicated that the Uplift Harris program will be open to another 2000 people , however, applications must be in by Friday's deadline if not sooner.
According to tge Freeport on eligibility standards, applicants must reside in one of the following zip codes and be income situsted at 200% below the poverty level of $60,000 dollars per year. Residents in the following zip codes : 77026, 77028, 77033, 77050, 77051, 77060, 77081, 77091, 77093, and 77547 are eligible to apply.
Today, a family of four that has an Income of $48000 and less will be eligible to apply to the Guaranteed Income benefit program.
More than $20.0 million dollars has been provided to Harris county to conduct the Uplift Harris program. The majority of the funds were provided by the U.S. federal government.
In the last week, comments made by Uplift Harris program officials indicated that the proglgrsm has been a great benefit to more than 67,000 residents in Harris vounty futingbtheblast 12-13 months of nationwide inflation.
