California Governor Newsome Prepares 8 Southern -Cal Counties For Deadly Winter Storm

STATE & NATIONAL: This weekend, California Governor Gavin Newsome declared a state of emergency in preparation for the life threatening floods predicted to strike upon southern California shores. High winds, snowfall and flood -causing rains are among the travesties expected to stretch across 8 counties during this phase of the late winter storm cycle.

"California: this is a serious storm with dangerous and potentially life-threatening impacts. Please pay attention to any emergency orders or alerts from local officials. California is ready with a record number of emergency assets on the ground to respond to the impacts of this storm.” The admonishing yo residents issued by the office of Governor Newsome.


In California, the National Guard will be deployed to the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura pre and post storm facilitators .


This weekend provided the Governor's office a moment to meet with State Operations Center agents, While visiting with SOC agents in Sacramento, Governor Newsome joined in planning the emergency strategy for possible evacuation efforts should flooding and mudslides transpire, resulting in the need to move residents to safety.


Governor Newsome issued a clearly stated warning to Southern California residents stating the life threatening dangers of the approaching storm.


Newsome also issued a 5 step strategic plan for redidents to use as guidelines for safety and survival. The Governor's guidelines include


• Residents shoukd staybin contact with 311

• Get information from a trusted, state source

• Prepare for extremely high winds: "...remove any dead trees or overhanging branches near structures, remove loose roofing material, bring in unsecured objects from patios and balconies, secure outdoor objects that could blow away, shutter windows securely and brace outside doors."

• Follow travel safety advisories : avoid non essential travel on Sunday and Monday.

• Prepare for power outages: keep devices charged Plan for batteries and other alternative power sources.
