US Ambassador Greenfield Represents US Vetoed Arab-Backed Ceasefire Resolution

US & GLOBAL: Today, Washington has taken steps to block an Arab-backed, Security Council resolution involving a ceasefire by Israel in the war with Hamas. U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield has commented in regard to the U.S. call forcrenouncibg tge recent Security Council's proposed cease firmer stating that tge U.S. has arrived at the conclusion that a ceasefire, at this time, would interfere with formerly established plans struck between Israel and Hamas.

On Tuesday, tge Biden administration backed a vote to veto eggs Security Council resolution in a decision of 13-1.


Today in Washington, National Security Ciunvil spokesperson , John Kirby commented in regard to the proposed ceasefire. Kirby stated tge USharbors certain questions surrounding any Devi on yo render tge state of vontrol to Hamas without securing theyre lease of hostages.


According to the U.S. intel, and UN, Hamas may currently hold as many as 2000 hostages . The US backed a resolution that would secure the release of all hostages and open ports of entry allowing humanitarian aid to flow through to refugees at Rafah.


In agreement with Palestine, Amar Bendjama, of the Algerian Security Council, commented in regard to the vetowked resolution would have "...sent a strong message to Palestine. Bendjama urged UN partners to examine their consciences stating " ... how will history judge you."


Whike a final draft may be reviewed--that which has been produced with tge United States & UK's 3 tier plan , US officials currently serving as deputy UN Ambassafors have indicated that which sought after is getting hostages out, getting more aid in, and "... a lengthy pause to this conflict.”


A State Department spokesperson stated that the next vote on a resolution may not be rendered by Wednesday.
