STATE & NATIONAL: On Friday, New Jersey business owner, Jose Uribe plead guilty to charges of attempted bribery of NJ Senator Menendez. Uribe stated in court, this week, that he had indicated prior to the court hearing that he was assisting Nadine with making payments on her vehicle . The apparent trade off was indicated when Menendez stated that he took steps to persuade prosecutors to " go easy..." on his budiness associate during a criminal investigation.

In his statement to the court, Utibe acknowledged the wrong in his actions stating that he was fully knowledgeable of the wrong in having the Senator involve himself in an attempt at persuading prosecutors to put a stop to tge investigation
Uribe stated further that he was aware that giving Nadine Menendez a Mercedes Benz was, also, a wrongdoing. The Uribe testimony included the statement, he commented, that he hoped the gift of the Mercedes Benz would also work in his favor to prevent the investigation of a relative.
Uribe confessed that he acted in such manner to enter into an agreement with Nadine Menendez to give her a Mercedes Benz in exchange for Senator Menendez using his "powerful influence ..." to persuade prosecutors to relinquish any investigation of an associate.
Uribe plead guilty to 7 counts of criminal activities including conspiring to commit bribery, obstruction of Justice, wire fraud and tax evasion.
In regard to sentencing, Jose Uribe faces up to 95 years in prison. According to routine court proceedings, Judge Sidney Stein has the power to extend leniency to Uribe via his cooperation in disclosing evidence involving other defendants in the case.
Uribe has stated that geceill cooperate , fully, with Manhattan prosecutors adding that he will, also, release to the state, an amount of $246,000 dollars that is directly linked to criminsl activities.
