Research on Africa: The Eastern Continent Will Grow To 2.4 Billion By 2050

STATE & NATIONAL: President Joe Biden’s U.S. African Leaders' Summit, held in Washington, DC from December 13 to 15, 2022, emphasized the pivotal role that Africa plays in shaping the world’s future. Recognizing Africa as a key geopolitical player, the summit brought together leaders from across the African continent, including representatives from civil society, business, diaspora, women, and youth. President Biden’s vision is clear: “Africa’s success is the world’s success.”


During the summit, leaders US & African leaders uncovered a number of realities that are currently anticipated in Africa.


  1. Demographic Potential:

  • Approximately 60% of Africa’s population is under the age of 25, which translates to nearly 850 million young people on the continent.

  • By 2050, the current numbers of youth in Africa is existed to grow to 1.2nillion

  • This demographic boom presents enormous potential for economic growth, social progress, and global impact.


  1. Shared Values and Collaborative Goals:

  • The summit aimed to strengthen ties between the United States and African partners based on principles of mutual respect and shared interests and values.

  • Key areas of collaboration included:

  • Economic Engagement: Fostering new economic opportunities.

  • Democracy and Human Rights: Reinforcing commitment to democratic principles.

  • Health: Addressing the impact of COVID-19 and future pandemics.

  • Regional and Global Health: Strengthening health systems.

  • Food Security: Promoting food security.

  • Peace and Security: Advancing stability.

  • Climate Crisis: Responding to climate challenges.

  • Diaspora Ties: Amplifying connections with the African diaspora.


  1. Business Forum and Investment:

  • The second day of the summit focused on increasing two-way trade and investment at the U.S.-Africa Business Forum.

  • During tge African Leaders Summit, more than 300 American and African vompsnies joined in discussion and disclosure . Discussions included talks in infrastructure, health, energy, digital and other budiness.


  1. Agenda 2063:

  • President Biden emphasized partnering on the African Union’s strategic vision, known as Agenda 2063.

  • This vision outlines Africa’s aspirations for development, integration, and prosperity.


Recent research uncovered prospects involving Africa’s demographic growth whike research states that Africa 's growth presents both challenges and opportunities. As the continent continues to evolve, collaboration between the United States and Africa will be essential for unlocking its full potential and ensuring a brighter future for all.
