Texas Judge Ruled In Favor of Immigrant Shelter Opposing Tx Attorney General Paxton

Today, judge Francisco Dominguez granted the Texas immigration shelter facility legal protection from the fomented demands of Texas Attorney General, Paxton


Paxton’s office had sought to subpoena Annunciation House, seeking records about the shelter’s clients. The shelter director, Ruben Garcia, was given a day to turn over the documents.


According to the judges' ruling, there is prevention of the immediate compliance with the subpoena , instead, provides that Paxton's office must engage the state's court system in the process ofthe desired aim is to investigate the nonprofit shelter.


The judge expressed concerns about the attorney general’s motivations, suggesting that there is “a real and credible concern” that the attempt to prevent Annunciation House from conducting business in Texas was predetermined.


The shelter provides humanitarian aid and social services to migrants . The judge o pop tesiding over tge Texas subpoena case emphasized the need for the fair play between litigants.


In court documents, Paxton’s office had accused Annunciation House of being engaged in human smuggling and operating an illegal stash house. However, the judge’s ruling protects the shelter from immediate document demands and allows for a proper legal process to unfold2.
