HUD Secretary, Fudge Announces Her Retirement After 50 Yrs In Public Service


NATION: In an announcement from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge sends her message to the Biden administration and the nation stating her plan for retiring from public service. Secretary Fudge stated, this week, her retirement follows 50 years of public service , the last 3 which she devoted to performing in a most expert manner as the HUD Secretary.

"It has been my honor and privilege to serve the people of the 11th District of Ohio since November 2008...my appreciation for their support as I sought to represent their interest is boundless..." Fudge stated her goid forgunr in being selected by US President Joe Biden to serve as US Secretary of HUD adding, her request to the US Congress and officials to accept her letter of resignation.



Her resignation letter signed on March 10, Secretary Filudge will leave her public service post on March 22, 3024.



During the 3 years as HUD Secretary, Fudge has extended affordable housing to 100,000 families. The HUD Secretary was, also, instrumental in rebuilding of half a million units of housing.


Fudge has often lamented to postmen of much needed housing efforts that have been pushed back as a result of unavailable funding. The Secretary does not state that the lack of sufficient funding to facilitate new housing programs is in any manner associated with her reasons for returning, now. Secretary Fudge has, however, indicated "It's time for her to return home--Secretary Fudge is a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio.


In her career, Marcia Fudge served as Mayor of Warrenbille Heights where, as the first black and first woman, Fudge served for 8 years from 1999. Fudge, also, served for 6 years as a Congresswoman for the state of Ohio.


Fudge has assisted with ensuring thst as many as 2 million families have remained in their homes. Secretary Fudge commented in regard to her most satisfying accomplishment as HUD Secretary , stating that it was her hope to endure that the people knew that HUD cared and that "..we fought for them and that we did everything we could to make their lives better."
