Todsy, it was later discovered that the green dye is a solution referred to as Zelyonka, a locally used antiseptic solution, which, in regard to these acts of vandalism, raises further questions.

The numerous incidence of polling center violations have not adversely affected the outcome of the election. There may be no question that President Vladimir Putin is virtually guaranteed to secure another six-year term in office.

During the ongoing election, however, electoral authorities have urged law enforcement officers to remain vigilant. Most of the day's incidents occurred in polling stations across Moscow, Voronezh in southern Russia and the region of Karachay-Cherkessia in the North Caucasus.

While the election results are predictable, the situation remains tense. The recent death of Putin’s prominent critic, Alexei Navalny, has created distrust and heightened scrutiny. Putin's political rival, Navalnya's widow, Yulia Navalnaya, has called on opponents to register their protest by going en masse to polling stations.

Last month, Mrs Navalnya met with US President Joe Biden in California. While visiting with the couple’s daughter, Dashia, a student at Stanford University, Yulia Navalnya, also spoke with urgency during her meeting with Biden requesting the West not to recognize Putin’s fifth term as president.

There has been global reaction to the death of Navalny, NATO’s Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, has expressed concerns about the fairness of the election.

Election Commission chief Ella Pamfilova has labeled the saboteurs as “scumbags” and warned that perpetrators could face up to five years in jail for their actions.

Despite the quite apparent opposition and challenges to a 5th term by Putin, the election process continues, and citizens exercise their right to vote over three days until Sunday as the world awaits the quite anticipated outcome.
