Florida Governor DeSantis Opposes Congress Members Preparing To End Haitian Refugee Ingress


STATE & NATIONAL. In Florida, today, Congressmembers ofthe state have indicated that preparations are being made for tge reception of the major influx of Haitian refugees. In Haiti President Ariel Henry continues with securing a state of emergency as resident escape certain violent attacks. In Florida, Governor DeSantis states plans for ending the entry by asylum seekers he refers to solely as illegal immigrants.


Florida officials are bracing for a potential surge of Haitian migrants amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Haiti. The situation on the island has forced many Haitians to take the dangerous sea route to flee to Florida’s shores.


In Haiti, violent crime rings have gained control leading to dwindling food supplies, homelessness, and widespread instability. Haitian community leaders and elected officials are urging caution, recognizing the need for assistance while also being wary of relying solely on international intervention.


Today, the number of those incurring devastation at the hand of Haitian vigilantes mounts up. Now, the numbers exceed 276,000 people living in Florida who were born in Haiti.


Along side the volume of iHsitian asylum seekers, State Representative Dotie Joseph, who represents North Miami. Congresswoman, Joseph emphasizes that the instability in Haiti affects all Haitians in the diaspora, creating a sense of helplessness. The Congress woman indicates that desperation is due to historical events like the U.S. occupation during previous administrations and abuses by the United Nations. U.S.


Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, a Haitian-American Democrat from Florida, warns that failing to act could pose a security risk in the U.S. The state of Florida is deploying additional personnel, including law enforcement officers and soldiers, to the southern coast to protect against a potential influx of undocumented Haitian immigrants.


Governor Ron DeSantis has directed Florida’s Division of Emergency Management and state law enforcement to bolster efforts in intercepting illegal migration, emphasizing the need to secure the state.
