This weekend, Vice President Harris issued a warning to Israel. In her statement, Harris emphasized that any major military operation in Rafah would be a huge mistake.

In her observance of events that are ongoing in Israel, Vice President Harris has studied the maps and concluded that there is nowhere for the civilians in Rafah to go. Approximately 1.4 million Palestinians have sought refuge in Rafah during Israel’s ongoing offensive.

Harris made these remarks during an interview stating President Joe Biden’s position. The White House has made it clear that they are “ruling out nothing” in terms of consequences if Israel proceeds with the assault.

Washington’s perspective is unambiguous, Us leaders have stated, ‘any major military action in Rafah is ill-advised.’ Harris refrained from directly labeling Netanyahu as an obstacle to peace but highlighted the need for equal security and dignity for both Israelis and Palestinians.

Progressive elements within the Democratic political establishment have joined the chorus of opposition to the humanitarian costs of Israel’s five-month military campaign in Palestinian territory.

On Sunday, New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has accused Israel of “genocide” against Palestinians and called for the suspension of US military aid to Israel.

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez went further, asserting that Israel had “crossed the threshold of intent” by blocking humanitarian aid from reaching starving Gazans.

In Washington, Vice President Harris’s stance underscores the gravity of the situation in Rafah and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution that respects the rights and safety of all involved parties.
