Vice President Harris & Internet Services Made Affordable To Seniors & Others In America

Updated: Apr 3

NATION: In the past 6 to 8 months, Americans relying on home and business internet services have experienced notable changes, impacting both their bills and the quality of their internet connections. Vice President Kamala Harris has been a strong advocate for addressing these issues.

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), established under President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, stands as the largest internet affordability program in U.S. history. Remarkably, it is now benefiting 23 million households-equivalent to 1 in 6 households across America.

These households are saving between $30 to $75 each month on their internet bills. Moreover, due to collaboration with internet providers, most eligible households can now access high-speed internet for free through the ACP.

However, there’s a critical concern that without congressional action, the ACP is set to expire this spring. Millions of Americans may lose their ability to afford high-speed internet service.

To address this, the Biden-Harris Administration urgently calls on Congress to extend free and discounted high-speed internet for eligible households through 2024.

Thanks to the efforts made by Vice President Kamala Harris, in the 21st century, reliable internet access is essential for education, healthcare, work, and staying connected with loved ones.

Harris has addressed the problems associated with tge unfortunate conditions involving many underserved communities, rural areas, veterans, and older Americans. Many of these vommunities still lack affordable, reliable high-speed internet, contributing to significant disparities.

Today, significant enrollment statistics for the ACP include nearly half of the households benefiting from the ACP, which are military families.

Now, 4 million seniors and 10 million Americans over the age of 50 benefit from this program every month. One in four participating households are African American, and one in four are Latino. Let’s hope that Congress takes swift action to ensure continued access to this vital resource for millions of Americsns.
