A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely obscures the sun, allowing viewers to see the sun’s corona (its outer atmosphere) that is typically hidden by the sun’s brightness.

In Indianapolis, the eclipse is expected to begin at 1:27 p.m. local time and end at 1:44 p.m.1. It was stated that, if the weather cooperates, residents of Indianapolis would have the opportunity to witness this celestial spectacle. It was near 2:00 this afternoon that Indianapolis experienced the totality. The fade to total black lasted for nearly 10 minutes of longer before the effects of the solar eclipse were seen in the next point.

Niagara Falls, New York! In Niagara Falls, residents and spectators there experienced a partial eclipse from 2:04 to 4:32 p.m. (EDT). The start of totality was expected at 3:18:19 p.m. (EDT), and the total eclipse lasted for 3 minutes and 31 seconds.

Imagine the iconic Horseshoe Falls framed by the cosmic drama of the eclipse as it moved on to New York City. Once in New York City some changes took shape. NYC was not in the path of totality, so it will witness a partial eclipse, however, residents there could not say that they did not encounter what seemed to be a total or near total black out. The city grew quite dark as it had in some Texas cities as the sun's light became dimmed by the earth's shadow.

While the sun won’t be completely obscured, it’s still a remarkable event to observe. Remember to use proper eye protection when viewing the partial eclipse. A few photos are available for your viewing. We hope you enjoy as much as we have.
