SoS Blinken Receives Request By Israel Defense Minister To Refrain From Imposing Sanctions

US & GLOBAL: Today, in the United States, US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken received a message from the Israel Defense Minister, Benny Gatz urging him to reconsider the plans being considered for imposing sanctions against Israel's IDF Netzah Yehuda battalion. while the US states that Israel's IDF unit committed acts of cruelty toward Palestine civilians that, today, are tantamount to inhumanity. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu reacts to the US plan stating the sanctions are the substance of an outrageous plan by the US. By Anne M. Erbynstein In Israel, as Gatx and Netanyahu perused the plan formed by the US involving the possible imposition of immediate sanction against Israel's military forces, the Defense Minister reflected on the potential for such deterrence to bring about certain harm to Israel adding that the plan would, also, be injurious to Israel's international standing as a lawful democracy. Gatz added comments formed against the decision made by the United States stating that the plan for forming sanctions against the Netzah Yahuda unit is seen as being reprehensible, according to Prime Minister Netanyahu. Prime Minister Netanyahu satted, following his being informed of the possibility for sanctions being imposed by the US, "...At a time when our soldiers are fighting terrorists monsters, the intention to impose a sanction on a unit of the IDF is the height of absurdity and a moral low." In agreement with Netanyahu, Gatz indicated that Israel's haredi battalion is an all male unit which has faced its measure of abuses. Gatz indicated that Netanyahu sympathizes with the Netzah Yehuda who were accused of the death of Palestine-American leader, Omar As'ad. Netanyahu commented, also, that the US decision to sanction an IDF unit would be a first in any steps taken by the United States against the Israel military.


Gatz commented that IDF units adhere to the Israel Defense Force code of conduct and , according to Gatz, the Netzah Yehuda carry out order in accordance with international law. The outcry made in opposition to the plan for imposing sanction is declared in a manner that seems much more intense as it is stated by Israeli Prime Minister. Netayhau commented, as a matter of a warrant stated with the intense force of passion, "Sanctions must not be imposed on the Israel Defense Forces." Today, the United States has not issued any further statements to the Israel government in regard to Gatz' petition.
