STATE & NATIONAL: Tragedy took center stage during a birthday party held for minor children ages birth to 8 years. The birthday party, held at the Monroe County Swan Creek Boat Club was interrupted by a vehicle that crashed into the building killing 2 children. By Anne M. Erbynstein On Sunday, news of the birthday party crashed by a vehicle that was driven by a 66 year old woman shattered the hearts of resident in Berlin Township, Monroe County. The crash that killed two children resulted in the injury of 3 children and others. The crash appeared to be caused by the woman's losing control of the vehicle which , while traveling at 30 mph, plowed some 25ft into the building. While the identity of the driver remain undisclosed, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department stated that the woman was taken into custody and placed in jail. On Sunday, Sheriff Troy Goodnough stated that charges are pending as an investigation is being conducted in regard to the crash.
