Putin Spokesperson Peskov's Ukraine Fate Comments Spoken Too Soon: Russia Stands In Violation of Budapest Memorandum

Updated: Apr 28

US & GLOBAL: Today, in Russia, the spokesperson for Russian President, Dmitri Peskov commented in regard to the status of affairs involving Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky, In a recent Russian news comment made by Peskov, the commentator stated that Zelensky's "fate is sealed." By Anne M. Erbynstein "It’s a good day for America, it’s a good day for Europe, and it’s a good day for world peace, for real, it’s consequential." --US President Joe Biden It is following a virtual promise made by US President Joe Biden who has synched the agreement sought after between he and Congress to take further steps in providing military aid to Ukraine. Last week President Biden signed the measure that would extend to Ukraine and Israel a package valued at $95 billion dollars. "Zelensky's fate is definitely sealed..." in reference to the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin." Dmitri Peskov commented The Biden agreement formed alongside US House Speaker, Mike Johnson, contains cash payments and an extensive weapons package containing air-defense systems, artillery shells and ammunitions, and armored vehicles. During his commentary, Peskov indicated that Russia has not settled with any efforts made by the Ukraine military nor the plan by Ukraine President Zelensky to gain Ukraine's sovereignty. According to Peskov, Putin has indicated that Moscow, the Kremlin and Putin will proceed with its special military operations. According to the Russian News report, Peskov's comments are meant to indicate that Zelensky's fate as well as the end-status on the part of Russia in regard to the war against Ukraine. Peskov seems to, quite possibly, refer to a matter of an agreement that transpired in 1994 in regard to the Budapest Memorandum--an agreement made by Kyiv to return nuclear weapons to Russia in exchange for assurances by the US and Moscow. It was following the termination of the United Soviet socialist Republic (USSR) that Ukraine elected its first President, 1994. Following the signing of the Budapest Memorandum --also signed by Russia and Ukraine--Ukraine's President, Leonid Kravchuk commented, “If tomorrow Russia goes into Crimea, no one will raise an eyebrow.” The 1994 Budapest Memorandum would be made official despite the plans by former Ukraine leaders to secure and make formal its separation from Russia. according to Ukraine leaders of that era, their plan had not readily included an agreement to return Russian nuclear weapons. The agreement was, however, synched by the US and Moscow's signing of the Budapest Memorandum. Contained in the language stated and signed into law during the Budapest OSCE conference held at Patria Hall, Budapest Convention Center, the bill was actually signed by US Ambassador to Hungary, Donald M. Blinken and Russian officials. The memorandum "prohibited Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, "except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations." Basing the status of current events involved in the Russian war brought against Ukraine in February 2022, it is despite the fact that, according to the impression made by Peskov alluding to Ukraine's fate being sealed, it is a much more glaring fact that the statutes of agreement contained in the Budapest Memorandum have been starkly disregarded and , subsequently, violated by Russia. The end of USSR and its control over Kyiv/Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan ended, if not solely at the signing of the Budapest Memorandum, the end of Russian rule in Ukraine was sealed at the signing of the agreement to pull out of Kyiv, Ukraine by Moscow, Russia which, thereby, recaptured Russian deposits of nuclear weapons. Ukraine's liberation from Russia has remained a matter of a foregone conclusion for as many as 30 years. The BM agreement severed all ties between Russia and Ukraine which is made evident by the Budapest memorandum, 1994 a law about which, today, Russia remains in violation.
