US Deploys Troops To Gaza To Engage In Building A Floating Bridge Providing A Thoroughfare For Humanitarian Aid

Updated: Apr 30

US & GLOBAL: Today, as Israel makes plans for carrying out an offensive in Rafah, the United States moves forward with plans for sending troops to Gaza to build a floating bridge. In Washington, members of the political community have stated their concern over the prospective bridge building and the potential for the presence of US military forces to result in warfare. By Anne M. Erbynstein "Typically, all of the deployed service members carry guns and they have the ability to protect themselves if challenged." --US Pentagon Secretary General., Lloyd Austin III

In weeks to follow, the United States will deploy military troops to Gaza, the plan for the presence of the US military is that associated with the construction of a thoroughfare that may stretch between Israel and the Strip, allowing more humanitarian aid being transported and delivered to the Palestinian refugees. Planned for commencing immediately, the bridge will be situated in a region of the Mediterranean and is expected to be a combined effort among US allies including UK troops.

Today, in the US and abroad, some have vocalized their concern for the quite costly construction, extending to no less than $320million dollars. Others have stated their concern for the prospective dangers that loom over the waters of the Mediterranean given the war in Israel and Gaza and the more recent attacks by Iran naval forces bought against sea bound travelers. During a House Armed Services Committee hearing, Austin responded to questioning, most of which were inquiries made in regard to the potential that armed conflict may occur. Austin replied stating that the service members are armed and are abreast of their right to respond to being fired upon by striking back. Austin added that there is no question that, if any conflict is to transpire, the potential exists for US military personnel to be shot. Austion stated, "They have the right to return fire." Recently, President Biden received a letter forwarded by11 members of the Senate Armed Services Committee among those who questioned the safety and wellbeing of the 1000 troops who are being deployed to Gaza region of the Mediterranean. Today, the White House has stated that the building of the floating bridge is being conducted in connection with the US and Israel's closely linked efforts at working together in a plan for sustaining security in the region.
