STATE & NATIONAL Today, in Manhattan, Judge Merchan has issued an order to hold former President Donald Trump in criminal contempt of court. In the Trump hush money trial, Judge Metchan ordered criminsl contempt charges adding, an incarceratory punishment" may, also, be imposed against Trump.

Truth Social is the social web site owned and operated by former US President Donald Trump. According to reports made in association with Trump’s post trial activities, he has repeatedly posted commentary reflecting his impressions and thoughts in regard to trial events. In view of the Merchan gag order, that which is routinely imposed on witnesses and jurors, the former President’s blatant commentary violates the order.

Following each day of post trial events, former President Trump can be watched on national news company video footage commenting in regard to the events surrounding his trial. In the most recent moments, Trump spoke during a press briefing during such time he commented in regard to his ongoing trial while making comparisons to the presidential campaigning being conducted by his political rival, US President Joe Biden.

While Trumps press conference comments , albeit, give the impression that he is resentful of Biden who has not faced any criminal accusations, the judge in the Manhattan trial is not simpatico with Trump and his lamenting.

Today, Judge Merchant leveled nine gag order violations against Donald Trump following the charges made by the former President regarding his Truth Social posts. Merchan also indicated that the criminal contempt can accompany jailing.

During his reprimand of Trump, Merchant stated that he will not tolerate any further violation by Trump without imposing punitive consequences. The Judge concluded his criminal contempt charge by imposing a fine of $1000 dollars for each of the 9 violations.

In a brief explanation stated in association with his decision, Judge Merchant stated that, while the imposition of fines are regulated by state law, it was also possible to impose a higher fine based on Trump’s wealth status. Merchan indicated that while the fines imposed are rather light in terms of their punitive impact upon the defendant, therefore ineffectual to Trump, the court has considered the possibility that former President Trump may take the court more seriously if he sits out the criminal contempt charge behind bars.

Judge Merchant has, thus far, refrained from ordering Trump’s incarceration in reaction to the former President’s criminal contempt charges.
