STATE & NATIONAL: Today, as the US focuses sites on the rather rare phenom, it is true that the Aurora Borealis will cross the heavens leading from the northern region of the nation in Colorado and will cross over a number of midwestern and eastern states to reach Alabama, on Sunday; Mothers Day, May 12, 2024.

it appears that the Aurora Borealis, also, known as the Northern Lights, has been visible in both Colorado and Alabama due to a rare severe geomagnetic storm.

In Colorado, the Northern Lights were expected to be visible across the northern third of the state1. The geomagnetic storm was projected to continue, with bright and intense Northern Lights returning on Sunday.

As for Alabama, the Northern Lights were predicted to be visible as far south as Alabama due to the same geomagnetic storm.

The visibility of the Northern Lights in other states across the nation is a rare event and the viewing area could be extraordinary.

The best chance to see the Northern Lights was between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The visibility of the Northern Lights depends on several factors including solar activity, local weather conditions, and light pollution.
