LGBTQ Community Warned By FBI & Homeland Security of Possible Terror Attacks During June Pride Month Celebrations




STATE & NATIONAL: In the US, Pride Month is generally a time when the LGBTQ community celebrates its pride. Along with parades and other events, Pride Month is an outdoor ceremony that takes place on the streets of cities across the United States. This year, The FBI and Homeland Security warn LGBTQ celebrators that ceremonies are , hereby, placed on alert for potential attacks. By Anne M. Erbynstein The alert forwarded by FBI and DHS state: “foreign terrorist organizations or supporters may seek to exploit increased gatherings associated with the upcoming June 2024 Pride Month.” According to the most recent news reported in regard to the Pride Months celebrations, the events are annually slated for the 2nd week in June. Last week, the FBI and DHS issued a warning to Prime Month organizations to ensure that the LGBTQ community is aware of the dangers associated with events this year. FBI and DHS alerts have not specified where nor any manner by which a terrorist attack might take place however, the alerts have been aimed at night clubs, cannabis dispensary shops or curbside and side walk game tables and pride parades. In Chicago, authorities have limited celebrations to 150 participants stating that safety concern necessitate the limitations being placed on celebrations. Pride Month celebrators state that their strongest impression is, always, that attacks against LGBTQs are highly possible. One member of the LGBTQIA community, Davion Mason commented that this year's celebration will. likely, unfold and be carried out not any different from any other year.
