Israel Defense Minister Returns AP wire Service Equipment In Israel After Citing Company For International Media Violations



US & GLOBAL: On Tuesday, Israel moved in on an areas believed to be a former Hamas tunnel. Once inside, Israel located and removed equipment that had been used by the AP wire Service--the same type of media equipment set up that had been conducted Al Jazeera --the news company raided and ousted by Israel last week. By Anne M. Erbynstein Today, Israel reacted to the AP news company's video feed violated foreign press law. Israel took down the long-standing news company's () of the Gaza complaining that the efforts being made were solely that purposed for obtaining war footage. Complaints that were returned against Israel claimed that the Israeli government acted against the 'free press' while suppressing coverage ofthe Israel-Hamas war. In reaction to the critiques received by the international community, Israel’s Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi delivered a statement illuding to the potential that exists for security risks to increase under the circumstances that AP and Al Jazeera take steps in capturing news data that violate international media law. Sometime later, the Israel Communications Minister returned the AP equipment and stated that AP operations were cleared to proceed with news coverage.

The problem with AP Wire service stemmed from the fact that the global wire service company provides news information to news companies around the world. in regard to the restrictions that had been imposed on AP, the Israel Communications Director stated that the company was shut down for sharing news information with Al Jazeera the company that has been banned by the Israel government and cited for unlawful media activity. Backed by complaints vocalized by the United States, Israel returned AP wire Service's equipment, however, at the behest of the news company's officials. The Israel government returned Associated Press' cameras and broadcast equipment following the seizing of equipment that occurred at the AP site located in the southernmost city of Sderot, Israel.
