N Carolina: 15 Men Arrested Following Sting Operations Uncovering Child Sex Solicitation


STATE & NATIONAL: In Mooresville, N. Carolina, 15 people were arrested on charges involving soliciting children for cyber-sex; otherwise referred to as internet sex. The 15 men were stopped following a sting operation set up through the Carolina police, known as the Artemis Operation .

Today, the report of the arrests of 15, men who conducted Artificial Sex (AS) acts and solicitations of minor children was disclosed on Wednesday following the sting. Arrests that were made after the sting had been set up months ago and the 15 men were arrested between May 28-30.


According to the report, as many as 19 agencies were involved in the sting. Law enforcement and surveillance was conducted by 65 officers and others.


Arrests were made of 13 men following 2 arrests made by Union County police. Two men were tracked by law enforcement during the sting that uncovered internet soliciting by Matthew Oakes of Monroe and Nasario Espinoza of Charlotte both of whom were involved in committing internet solicitation of minors.


It was discovered that Espinoza and Oakes were involved in a much broader child sex operation conducted across the state of N Carolina. The arrests of tge two Union County suspects led to the arrests of a total of 15 men who were involved in soliciting the N Carolina minors.


Espinoza and Oakes were, both, charged with felony solicitation of minor children by way of computer with intent to commit and unlawful act of sex with underage children.
