Vice President Harris on Campaign Trail In N Carolina



NATION: On Wednesday, Vice President, Kamala Harris embarked upon the next campaign venture launching the national Economic Opportunity Tour. Harris visited with potential constituents and others at Johnson C. Smith University.

Vice President Kamala Harris launched her new phase in the ongoing Presidential campaign. Harris spoke to a crowd gathered at the Charlotte, North Carolina JC Smith University commenting on the prospective bill being passed to prohibit medical debt being reported in credit data.


While 15 million Americans will be affected by the bill that Harris hopes will include the efforts made by states to ensure that medical expenditures are lowered.


Vice President Harris commented stating that Americans incur medical cost that result from medical emergencies. The medical debt is not planned and therefore is most often unanticipated. Harris indicates that, given the nature of an emergency debt, the debt should not be added to one’s credit should payment of the medical be arrive in a state of default.


According to a report developed as a result of medical debt research, Vice President Harris indicated that credit ratings can be increased by 20% should the debt not be entered on credit reports .


Todays visit of medical debt among Americans reached nearly $100 billion dollars per year. Harris indicated that , given the idea that medical debt is stacked up on top of other debt, the problems with paying the debt results in added difficulty. In North Carolina, Senate members have voted on a bill that would prevent mega medical collectors from using illegal, biased and discriminator efforts at collecting on medical debts.


During her visit with Johnson University official who were joined by Gov. Roy Cooper, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, South Carolina State Rep. Bakari Sellers. and actor Michael Ealy.


In tge last year, the Biden administration has provided $32 million dollars in clean sue energy grants and federal funding for school mental health services.
