NATION: In a deal offered by the US Department of Justice, the Boeing Aircraft manufacturer , enters into a situation with the federal government.

In regard to a 2019 report, families of the victims of the Boeing 737 Max crashes filed lawsuits against Boeing. Most cases have been settled confidentially, but many families are seeking further justice, including having high-ranking Boeing officials prosecuted as families have, also, filed significant fines requests against Boeing
Today, the most recent report indicates that DOJ presented Boeing with a plea deal related to the two fatal 737 Max crashes in 2018 and 2019. Under the proposed deal, Boeing would plead guilty to a conspiracy charge for allegedly misleading the Federal Aviation Administration during its evaluation of the 737 Max aircraft.
The deal includes a fine of about $200 million and a three-year probation period. Following the request made by survivor families' attorneys, the plea deal has been met with dissatisfaction from the. Families believe Boeing lacks accountability and does not adequately acknowledge the loss of life caused by the crashes .
The families of the victims are advocating for a trial and have requested a fine of $24.8 billion dollars against Boeing, arguing that the settlement requested would be more representative of the severity of the situation
Boeing has, yet, to make a final decision on whether to accept the plea deal while, however, the deal will be made by a judge m. Victims families have indicated that they will object to the deal if Boeing accepts it.
