POLITICS: On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden turned the national focus to the weather conditions that have been stirred by the Category 1 storm, Debby. Today, President Biden announced his plan for providing full support to states affected by Hurricane Debby.

Following the North Carolina landfall by Hurricane Debby, President Joe Biden announced his declaration of approval for emergency. Biden declared a natural disaster in counties located in North Carolina following the Hurricane that touched down on August 5.
Biden has authorized Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate all possible efforts that will alleviate the hardship to the local population.
As provided by way of federal law, Title V of the Stafford Act, FEMA and DHS will provide aid that will save lives and provide public health safety measures to avert a public catastrophe in the counties including:
“Federal funding for the counties of Alamance, Anson, Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen , Brunswick, Carteret, Caswell, Chatham, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Davidson, Duplin, Durham, Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Greene, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Jones, Lee, Lenoir, Martin, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Orange, Pamlico, Pender, Person, Pitt, Randolph, Richmond, Robeson, Rockingham, Sampson, Scotland, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson.”
Category B public assistance eill be provided to the residents of the affected regions. The federal government has indicated that reimbursements will be made for expenses for shelter and evacuation.
“75 percent Federal funding for the counties of Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Davie, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Stokes, Surry, Tyrrell, Washington, and Yadkin.”
Biden has appointed the FEMA team led by Rodriquez McCallister. to coordinate recovery operations ordered by the federal government beginning August 5 until the necessary level of recovery is successfully accomplished.
Hurricane Debby has caused 6 deaths including 2 children.
