NATION:: As the DNC Convention day opened, one of the initiating speakers was Houston abortion rights activist Olivia Julianna. Speaking in regard to abortion rights at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago today, Julianna emphasized that access to abortion is a fundamental human right and essential for gender equality.

The Texas abortion advocate highlighted the negative impact of recent restrictive abortion laws in Texas and other states, arguing that these laws disproportionately affect marginalized communities.


She shared personal stories and testimonies from women who have been affected by restrictive abortion laws, aiming to humanize the issue and show the real-life consequences of these policies.


During her passionate plea for action and solidarity in the fight for reproductive justice, Olivia urged attendees to mobilize and advocate for reproductive rights, stressing the importance of voting and political engagement to protect and expand access to abortion.


Olivia stated called for stronger federal protections for abortion rights to ensure that access is not dependent on state laws.
