STATE & NATIONAL: In the most recent moments of the saga involving Dolton Village Mayor, Tiffany Henyard, the investigation by Former Chicago Mayor, Lori Lightfoot led to the suspension of at least one of 2 DPD officers. The suspension comes after Dolton county comptroller withheld funds in the amount of nearly $4million dollars.

Today as Mayor Henyard follows through with resolving matters involving police officer’s and what appeared to be evidence of unauthorized spending. one of the officers accused of misappropriation involving evidence of salary overpayments.
In reference to the recent developments in the investigation of Dolton Village’s missing $3.5 million, investigators have revealed significant financial mismanagement.
Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who was hired to investigate, found that the village’s general fund had a negative balance of $3.65 million as of May 31.
There had been some speculation as to the events surrounding the $3.65 million dollars, such that seems to be associated with the Illinois State comptroller, Susana Mendoza, withholding of municipal funds.
Two DPD officers are under scrutiny for accumulating substantial overtime pay, with one officer earning $108,000 in overtime alone in Fiscal Year 2023 and $114,000 in Fiscal Year 2024.
Deputy Chief Lewis Lacey, who is currently on administrative leave, was also found to have received $96,000 in overtime last fiscal year1.
Mayor Tiffany Henyard, accused of misusing taxpayer money, is expected to respond to requests for comment. Henyard was not in contact with investigators during a recent Dolton village hall meeting following the release of the investigation’s preliminary findings.
Both Mayor Henyard and Dolton County Mayor and DPD Chief Lewis Lacey have pleaded not guilty to bankruptcy fraud.
